LO SCHIAVO, Aldo (born
1934), philosophy historian. Graduated in Jurisprudence
at the Università di Bologna and in Philosophy at
the Università “La Sapienza” in Rome,
a manager at the Ministry of Education, inspector for the
teaching of philosophy, and redactor for the Enciclopedia
Italiana Treccani. Following his radical criticism studies
on Gentile-esque idealism (which his 1968 essay La religione
nel pensiero di G. Gentile, “La Culture”,
also refers to), he has devoted his research to Greek philosophy
from Pre-Socratics to Plato, starting from examining the
contribution of archaic myth to the birth of ancient rationalism.
